dual boot loss of original system

Asked by ernie dunster

I loaded Ubunto 10.04 LTS from the disk that came with the Haynes manual "LINUX every thing you need etc). loaded as dual boot on HP laptop. worked ok for a while but then completely lost my WinXP. I don't have a disk for this. is it something that I have done that has inadvertently lost my WinXP . This partition 45Gb is empty.

Can you give the output of:

sudo fdisk -l; sudo update-grub

Thanks

10.04 has less than 6 months support left. You may want to upgrade to Precise soon.

Can you help with this problem?
