edit grub precise

How can I edit grub configuration file to work for me?
I have this issue after updates and restart https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+question/214470
I edited the grub configuration adding "nomodeset" to the indicated line but I see "$vt_handoff" at the end and I write nomodeset after and before it but it doesn't fix the boot.

Help!!!

That is the screen wrapping the text, the dollar sign means there is text to the left
