Can't boot to XP on SATA 2 port

Asked by Mr Ed

OCZ SSD in SATA port 1 has Ubuntu 12.04.1 and it boots just fine; WD Raptor in SATA port 2 has windows XP and when I select it from the boot menu, I get a message that the hard drive configuration is wrong. How can I get this back to being able to select between Pangolin and XP Pro?

Does the drive pick up in BIOS?

Hi
Thanks for responding; sorry I'm late in replying - been out of town.

Yes, both disks are recognized in the BIOS; the Ocz is 1st SATA master and the WD Raptor is 2nd SATA master. The boot sequence is : CDROM, Ocz, WD Raptor, Removable.

PS
Pangolin, on the OCZ, boots and performs just great. When I boot up, I do get a choice of booting to Ubuntu (Pangolin), some intermediate stuff like memory testing, and lastly to Windows. When I select Windows, I get the notice that it cannot boot because of a possible problem in the windows disk boot configuration. I have the Raptor backed up on an external HD, using Acronis TIH 2011, but when I restore it to the WD Raptor disk, I get the same response.

PPS
The exact message I get is:
"Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and hardware. Please check Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information."

Thaks

Cancel. Latest Acronis restore solved the problem.
