Laptop unable to restart after I installed Ubuntu 12.04

Asked by henry

I deleted my partition for old version of Ubuntu, installed Ubuntu 12.04, and now grub refuses to start my computer!

Give me something that works out of the box now! I want to keep just windows XP and uninstall your defunct OS!

Then how is this an Ubuntu issue if you want to install another OS. Nice attitude by the way. Very becoming.

Sad

Because grub came with ubuntu. And Windows XP was already on the machine before that. If you have no clue what to do to fix a scenario like this then say nothing more.

But your issue is not with ubuntu. it is with the XP installer. This is not an Ubuntu issue. The fact that Ubuntu is on now is irrelevant.

THE ISSUE IS WITH UBUNTU. The ubuntu installer did not configure grub correctly. It has NOTHING to do with Windows XP because Windows XP does not use grub at all! If you have no technical background whatsoever, please do not reply anymore and let someone with at least some basic knowledge reply instead. If you have some basic knowledge, or know how to google, you will at least know what an XP installer is and what it does. It saddens me to know how ignorant you are.

I have 11 years Linux use and manage multiple data centres, so yes I have a technical background.

Are you wanting to remove Ubuntu entirely and install XP as the only OS?
