after upgrade to 12.04: boot problem

Asked by Lenny Lial

I upgraded my Ubuntu 10.10 to 12.04 on my partitioned PC. The upgrade froze about half way through. It will boot to the terminal screen and bring up the following error message.

Booting Ubuntu 11.10
Filesystem is ntfs, partition type 0x07
GLIBC_2.14' not found (required by /lib/libply.so.2)

I'm relatively a newby to Ubuntu so I'm hoping it's an easy fix.

Did you upgrade from Maverick to Precise directly, or did you upgrade to Natty, then to Oneiric then to Precise.

I did the latter. I had been using 11.10 without any problems at all.

If you have an issue with Grub, you can use this:

If you don't get fixed I suggest a clean install.

Can you help with this problem?
