Is there a trustworthy, current instruction for use of GRUB

Asked by kapthar

We have reviewed and tried over a gazillion descriptions of GRUB from Internet sources, only to find that they either don't work or are so out of data as to not even be applicable now.

Because we screw up so many times on installing things we constantly find the very unwelcome "grub ->" showing. Since we don't know of a good, current instruction manual we usually end up doing the installation again.

Can someone please let us know of a CURRENT and readable version of instructions for using GRUB?

You don't need a reinstall, only the bootloader is screwy. OMGUbuntu have a great guide called Sticking It To Grub which allows you to repair grub using a chroot for a liveCD environment.
