Cannot boot windows or ubuntu

Asked by Cole Weewie

I tried to install ubuntu 12.04 on a separate partition than windows. Everything seemed to work fine. After install I cannot boot into windows, it boots straight to ubuntu. When I log in to ubuntu I just get a black screen after entering my password. I tried my recovery disc for windows but get a message that my system is not compatible with the disk. The disc had worked before. Is there any way to get windows back?

I was able to fix booting from super grub2 boot disk. Booting into windows and using easybcd to write a new mbr. Had to revert to ubuntu 11.10, still dont know why I get a black screen after login on 12.04. But dont use it enough to be a difference to me. Thank you for your help.
