get error bootmgr is missing after formatting windows vista harddrive to replace with ubuntu. ubuntu cd in computer but cannot boot because bootmgr is missing

check from bios whether Optical drive is first in boot priority or not. if not change it.

You will need XP recovery CD to reinstall boot manager in Windows partition.
