New install (Ubuntu only) wont boot -Grub rescue

I installed Ubuntu 11.10 onto a new 320 GB PATA drive. Another 320 GB PATA drive exists and has data. Install from Live DC went smooth, but after reboot I got ;
Grub loading stage 1.5
Grub loading please wait error 15
Following advice in forums I booted the Live CD and did apt-get boot repair and ran it. It said it successfully repaired the grub and gave this link just in case; http://
After reboot I get the msg;
error: no such device: cfff8533-
grub rescue>
