boot w/grub

Acer Aspire 5516-installed 11.10-boots fine with wired internet-hangs with wireless. Also, no grub at startup.
I was told previously to use nomodeset but with no grub, I cannot do it.

Press the shift key as the machine is booting and you should get the grub2 screen. If Ubuntu is the only OS on the system the default behaviour is to boot into it automatically. You can change this behaviour by editing /etc/default/grub
