Hi William, could you give more information about the boot order, how did you upgrade, etc?

To easily change the boot order, you might want to install something like Startup Manager from the Ubuntu Software Center. There you will find the operating system of your choice during Grub load.

I upgraded within 11.04 to 11.10.
My boot order was automatically XP
The upgrade changed it to MemTest

I went into Startup Manager in 11.10 and changed it to Windows (family insistence), but on restarting it was MemTest still.

Thank you for you interest
William

Here is a comprehensive knowledgebase thread about Grub2. You will find there the basics and how to set the default to your preferred OS. I hope this helps http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1195275
