How do you configure your boot prosses

Asked by Name Withheld

I have Kubuntu on a flash drive and I want to run it on my laptop. I haven't been able to use it yet but I have done everything the Flash drive creater. I think there is something wrong with my boot. Usually with computers as I see, it waits for like 30 seconds for something to boot and then It asks what OS you want to use. But my laptop starts says its checking for media, says media test failure and goes into the OS. I would like to configure the boot sequence to make it so I can boot off of my flash drive. I do not now a crap about booting or what I should do so explain all the keys and stuff I need to press and all the funny things I need to do so I don't delete my OS or Reformat my Hard drive......

Now for those other things you might need:
I don't know where to find my boot info and I don't have admin privileges.
I am running on a Dell Latitude D830.

Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7300 @2.00GHz 2.00GHz
32-bit OS

Oh I am on Windows 7 Enterprise, and I have Kubuntu Desktop addition on my flash drive. I know I shouldn't be using Dssktop eddition on a laptop, but can I connect to the enterprise with it? If not what Kubuntu version can?

If you boot and go into BIOS andset the USB as the primary boot. It should then be ok assuming you MD5 tested your ISO before transferring it to the USB device.

Why are you running Win7 enterprise?

I don't know how to get into the bios or do most of those things please explain to me exactly what I need to do.\

I am running on enterprise cause it is a school computer. We are doing hardcore networking and stuff with virtual box too

Yu may get luck with F11 to then choose boot device, read the screen at boot. If all else fails then use F1, DEL and F10 to enter the BIOS to change the boot order.

You can do 'hardcore networking' with a P200 CPU running a base linux. Win7 enterprise doesn't really releate to hardcore networking.

The BIOS options or the shortcuts will get the USB booting. If you haven't done the MD5 test I suggest you do as this will affect the installation.
