stuck in grub recovery

Asked by Peter B.

I tried installing ubuntu to a usb flash drive off a cd from a vista machine.
it didnt work.
but that's not my concern.
Now, my computer boots into grub recovery, but if I have the flash drive and disk in, it asks me what os i want to boot.
I can choose "windows recovery" or something and it boots into vista.

how can i get it back to just vista! I GIVE UP ON UBUNTU

thanks, Peter

Grub has overwritten the Vista bootloader. Boot back into Vista, using the memory stick, then remove the flash drive and reinstall your Windows bootloader - I suggest the tool EasyBCE for this task, as it does the job and appears to be the tool most often recommended by other people.
It can be downloaded at http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1 and there are instructions at http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/Recovering+the+Vista+Bootloader+with+EasyBCD

I hope this helps!

Could you run following script, so I will be able to fully understand situation. Please plug USB flash drive when you run the script.
------
Provide data about boot configuration

There is a standard script provided to analyse boot configuration.

Could you download script at:

   http://sourceforge.net/projects/bootinfoscript/

Then in a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) run command:

    sudo bash ./boot_info_script055.sh

This will produce a file named: RESULTS.txt

Paste content of this file in http://paste.ubuntu.com/ and provide in this thread the link to Web page.

Please don't post file directly in thread, else it will make thread difficult to read.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Peter B. for more information if necessary.
