Black screen on entering Ubuntu partition

Asked by Gilbert Tan TS

I have install Ubuntu 10 Desktop Edition in Windows XP Home n everything works out fine n when I reboot, I can choose which partition I want. The problem is when I chose the Ubuntu partition I get a choice to select eg demo mode but after that, even when my HD light is blinking I get a black screen, and no matter what choice I chose, I still get a black screen.
Please help. I am using the following ;

Sony Olevia 22" HDTV Monitor with Geforce MX400 graphic card.

Looks like the HDTV driver is not supported, any workaround?

Thanks.

Fallback on my Compaq 15" CRT Monitor.
On accessing ubuntu partition, it proceed to grub screen command line.
What command must I type in to reset vga driver?
