Restore Mode?

Asked by Switching Maybe

I've haven't done anything different. I restarted my computer to test something out and then ubuntu brought me to some "System Restore" page. It won't fix the issue and won't allow me to log in. I logged in with safemode and tried to fix the error, but after removing the last thing I've downloaded, nothing happened...

Help please!

I suggest you power off and press CTRL and ALT and SHIFT a few times. There may be a key stuck down which may cause this. I've never heard of a restore page, theres Gnome safe mode though..

system restore is a windoze feature. it lets you rollback changes you made to the system to a prior state if something goes wrong or if virii attacked the system.

sadly, there's no such feature in ubuntu. but there is in fedora.

Yes, scroll down past netroot and you will get root, you can then diagnose the system there by reading logs and such. A good quick first step would be:

su foo; startx

change foo to your username, see if you get a desktop

When I read the logs how do I know what caused the error?

How can I fix everything?

I also get the recovery menu...
