how to deal with this on my dsktop: grub rescue>

After formatting one partition in the bootlloader menu I receive this message : grub rescue> ...when starting my computer. What command should I give after this message to be able to use my notebook?

Sounds like you formatted the partition which contained the grub files. If you have other linux installations, maybe they have an old grub installation you can use with the appropriate grub commands at the rescue prompt. Easier just to boot from a live media and reinstall to the partition you just formatted. The reinstall should pick up all the other OSes.

Try first reinstalling Grub2, it solves lot of issues:
   https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2#Reinstalling%20from%20LiveCD
If you use Wubi (installation of Ubuntu inside Windows), please change in question "grub2" to project "wubi'.
