i cant boot ubuntu,after some lines of text I get the message "No init found.try passing init=bootarg

Hi i am a reletavly new ubutu user and very happy ,untill now :-)
But I cant restart my computer,
when I initiate the damb thing it goes through its usual start up procedure then try's to boot ubuntu and after some lines of text returns the following message
No init found . try passing init=bootarg.

Do I simply type init=bootarg into the promp?

Before problem occurred, did you something special (update of new kernel, change of physical configuration, ...) ?
