What do you mean by "the registry"? Microsoft Windows has a Registry, not Ubuntu Linux.

Just did konw what to call them.Sorry for that.I meant the lines on that
appear when you put on your computer, where you get to select windows or
ubuntu. They used to 4 or 5 at the first installation but as you up-grade
they become 10. I konw there is a method of reducing them but then I can
remember how he did it. This guy I met once at a cafe help me with some time
back when iI was first introduced to ubuntu(8.04). Now I can't reach him.

Thanks for you help.

You mean "How do you remove old kernels from the boot menu?"

Look at e.g. "Remove Ubuntu Kernels You Don’t Need" - http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2007/10/17/remove-ubuntu-kernels-you-dont-need/

There is an opinion that you should keep at least two kernels. If the first one doesn't work the second one might.

Can you help with this problem?
