can't boot Windows after deleting Ubuntu partitions

Asked by Michael Anthony Flores

I deleted the partition Ubuntu was on, and now I can't boot into Windows. The recovery is on a partition which is apparently unacessable now. The grub recovery is all that loads on startup. I still have the ubuntu live cd if that can be used in resolving the issue.

When you installed Ubuntu, you made a "/boot" in Ubuntu "/" partition where Grub2 (the bootloaser) store its boot files. So when MBR (Master Boot Record, 1st sector of disk) try to find files in "/boot", there is a problem (classical joke of people installing Ubuntu on removable media). The easy way is to make MBR pointing to Windows bootloader.

To see how to restore the Ubuntu/XP/Vista/7 bootloader, go on this site
