[Seven not in menu] Windows Missing from Grub

Asked by Kwabena

I already have ubuntu 9.10 and Windows 7 on a dual boot machine. After installation of Ubuntu 10.04, I can see the partitions for ubuntu 9.10 and windows 7 and I am able to access the files from those partitions.
The problem is I am not able to boot to windows or 9.10. I only see the ubuntu 9.10 in the grub loader.

How do I get those OS's to run again.
When I try "sudo edit /boot/grub/menu.lst", I get an empty screen. I need help ASAP

Lucid doesn't use menu.lst anymore, it uses grub2 which is a more complex creature. It may get added if you simply run:

sudo update-grub

Your Windows partition was not detected.
"sudo update-grub" will call os_prober, which will search if there is a Windows bootloader at start of each partition.
