Ubuntu no longer boots

Asked by Spencer Crawford

Used the dual boot option when I installed Lucid back in June, been working great.
When I chose to boot into Ubuntu yesterday, I got a grub error, saying it could not locate root file for grub, with a list of "Tab" options, none of which worked.
So I am unable to boot into Ubuntu, being new to Linux, not sure how to proceed at this point.

No such devices found ubuntu/root/file or something like that, appears rather quickly.
So I have my live disc, it's not acting right, boots from disc intermittently, then others, a purple screen with two small logos at the bottom, then when it does launch, it freezes. Weird.
