You have to identify which is the line number of Microsoft entry.
After edit file /etc/default/grub.
Modify line "GRUB_DEFAULT=0" with this number.

If you are afraid of terminal Commands - install Startup-Manager from Software centre it is a GUI and easy to use...

for learning about ubuntu first of all use it. for any problem search launchpad or search in forum http://ubuntuforums.org/search.php?do=process you can even post there if you are a member.

http://ubuntu-manual.org/

nice blogs are out there..
