how to boot XP 1st

As i am a beginner please let me know "how to boot XP 1st" and "how I can Learn about Ubuntu more"...in a understandable way..

I'm guessing you dual boot. You can boot XP first by running:

gksu gedit /etc/default/grub

now the top line shows:

GRUB_DEFAULT=0

That is the top option in the list (values start at 0 in Linux in most cases), so if you reboot and count the number of lines you have to hit xp then change the default value to reflect.

After editting the file, save the change and close gedit then run:

sudo update-grub

To apply the changes to the system. Reboot to test.

To learn about Ubuntu, just use the OS, just like you did with windows. Simple.

i give you a simpler way.
go to ubuntu software center
type Startup-manager
install a thing with a picture of a spanar, or tool
once installed go to system,administration, startup-manager,put password and change the default operating system to the one you like.
