hard drive and grub with password

I'm a tech who is working on my second netbook with ubuntu. The netbook belongs to a friend of mine's daughter who is 13 and managed to not only put a password on her hard drive but forgot it so the machine was unusable. I managed to figure out the hard drive password and reinstalled ubuntu with discs. My linux skills are rusty at best. I want to eliminate the 2 passwords before she even gets to her login. Please help.

You mean BIOS password? I'd say reset CMOS.
