GRUB not loading -file not found- after formatting partitions

Asked by david@geocubo.org

Recently I've formatted 2 swap, 1 ntfs (win Xp) and one ext3 partitions in my netbook running Ubuntu 9.10, in order to gain disk space, delete the nasty windows Xp and the netbook remix and just keep Ubuntu (its partition was not formatted, it's still somewhere in the HD).
After that the system is unable to boot. The screen shows

GRUB loading.
error: file not found
grub rescue>

And that's all, the GRUB doesn't load, neither the OS. In brief, what I did is a complete mess!
Can anyone help me please?
Thanks!

Ok, that did work, even though I formatted the whole HD and installed the 9.10 version.

Thank you for your time!

I got the same problem, but for me, the LIVECD isn´t working... I have installed LINUX after WINXP. But for me, the version 9.10 of Ubuntu was not working well, because my Video Board is VIA and the existent drivers are not working well for this kernel version. So, i´ve decided to install UBUNTU 8.04LTS. I have formatted all the partitions related with LINUX, in the Windows using "Partitiong Magic".

So i messed up with GRUB, and when i start my laptop this message appears

GRUB LOADING..
Error: File not Found.

My BIOS is set to BOOT with CD-ROM, i used a cd with UBUNTU 8.04 and UBUNTU 9.10 but they don´t initialize.

I am desperate and i have no idea what to do... PLEASE HELP ME!!
