how to change boot-up sequence between ubuntu and windows xp

Asked by Rudi_23

Hallo,

Windows xp and ubuntu 9.04 is installed on my computer. Everything is fine so far.

But still usually I am using mainly Win XP, even I would like to change to Ubuntu.
So while I am booting and do not quickly select manually win xp ubuntu will be booted always.

How can I change the boot-up sequence, that win xp will be first and selected automatically instead of ubuntu ones?

Thanks.

Best wishes.

If you dont manage by editing your /boot/grub/menu.lst, I would recomend you to use the StartUp Manager GUI.
Have a look to some screenshots (they are self-explanatory):

It lets you configure some grub options with an easy-to-use graphical interface.

 To Install StartUp Manager:
a) Search "startupmanager" with the Synaptic package manager, select it and then install

b) You can also install it just writting (or copy&paste) next line on a Terminal:

sudo aptitude install startupmanager

Once install it, just have to choose your "Win XP" option in: "Boot Options" tab - "Default operating system" section:

Hope it helps you.
