Busybox v1.10.2 while booting Linux Mint Gloria

Asked by k86ster

Hi,
I am new to Linux world and to start with it I installed Linux Mint inside Windows, which I was told was the easiest and safest way to get acquainted with Linux.
But once I was done installing it on my machine and rebooted my machine to boot into Linux_mint_main,i received following error:

Busybox v1.10.2 (Ubuntu 1:1.10.2-2ubuntu7 built-in shell/ash)
and a blinking promt where when i typed 'exit' i received
'init not found try passing init = bootarg'

I hope i have explained the problem clearly.

Please help me to solve this problem as I could not find the solution anywhere else and I can't wait to start using linux:)

Lol, this is an Ubuntu forum, not a Mint one. Here's a link to the Mint one
http://forums.linuxmint.com/
unfortunately they have advertisments for strange things at the top of their pages :(

Luckily Mint is based on Ubuntu so perhaps a few things might be similar.

Installing Ubuntu inside Windows does usually work very well and some people manage to keep using it for years but when it doesn't work easily it's probably better to just un-install it and set-up a proper dual-boot instead. To un-install it from Windows see section 4 parts 1 & 2
http://forums.linuxmint.com/
and then try a LiveCd of the Mint Cd to see how it looks on your machine (hopefully this works the same as Ubuntu) usually distros have a LiveCd but i don't know if Mint does
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD
anyway, here's the proper way to install a dual-boot that works much better because it uses entirely linux systems rather than trying to balance on a few Windows ones.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WindowsDualBoot

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
