Grub loading, error 16

Asked by Mark

Greetings,

I have an IBM T41 laptop. I just restored it to factory default, which has Windows XP running. My next step was downloading and installing the latest version of Ubuntu. I installed it, and choose the dual boot for Windows XP and Ubuntu, telling it to prompt me at every power on.

At the very first restart after completing the installation, the screen shows "Grub loading please wait.... error 16". I do not know what to do at this point. I rebooted the laptop, and the same thing occurred.

I suggest you reinstall grub:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GrubHowto

Once you reinstall grub, the bootable partitions will be detected and the grub setup will be rewritten to the disk.

Did you MD5 check the ISO you downloaded? Did you verify the CD once booted to?
