dualboot, windows booting problem

Asked by rajusenthi

I am using dual booting as windows xp pro and ubuntu 8.10.While working with wine application ubuntu hanged.I don't know how to recover from system hanging.Hence I switch off the power supply from ups. This may occur two or more times. Then when ever I choose windows xp to boot,it did not load.Error message is unmountable - boot - volume. But ubuntu works well as earlier. I don't have windows bootable cd.How can I boot windows xp without bootable/recovery cd?

there might a problem with your windows xp drive and if you are using wine to run an .exe application form the same drive on which XP installed then the hang problem might be also due to a trouble in proper mounting of that drive but this not a problem caused by ubuntu and without any bootable media you are not able to boot your Xp again so pls try from a bootable pen drive of Xp if you have or use the F8 option after selecting the windows Xp to boot and use the safe mode and other option to recover back your Xp but it seems that if your Xp says:
unmountable - boot - volume
then it will also not boot in safe mode using F8 option but try it may it works otherwise you should have a bootable media to boot.
