Messed up GRUB, gives error 2

Asked by Sandeep

I had completely isntalled and configured my computer in dual boot with UBuntu 8.1 and windows XP... Everything was working fine for about a week when i read an articel abt GFX grub and thought of givin it a try;
I followed the instructions as given in
http://tuxenclave.wordpress.com/2008/01/18/how-to-install-gfx-grub-in-ubuntu/

Everything went fine utnil the part where i have to restore grub by typin commands:
sudo grub
find /boot/grub/stage1

I should have got an output like (hd0,4) but i got a file not found error...

Then i figureed out i had probably corrupted grub so removed the grub gfx and ran the command
sudo apt-get install grub

This installed the grub and then i tried to configure it and everything seemed to work fine... but on restaring i get the GRUB error 2 message and i can boot neither ubuntu nor windows......

Help would be deeply appreciated.......

Though i can reisntall ubuntu from scrap i wouldn't want to loose all my configurations....

Thanx in advance

i'm sure you can probably fix grub from the command line, but i've found it a lot easier to do with the Super Grub Disk:
