Getting rid of WINDOWS and only running Ubuntu

Hi,

Prob a newbie query but I did a search and could not find the answer... anyway here goes..

Is it possible (and if so how) to install Ubuntu on my laptop and get rid of Windows altogether so all my drive space is for ubuntu?

yes, by the installer will format your hard-drive and delete windows from it, allocating 100% of the space to ubuntu.

the 'Partitioning your disks' section deals with installing over windows.

I done the "wubi" thing to get ubuntu. Now i like it so well that I'm ready to get rid of windows vista. I have a partition manager and fiddled with it a little but every time I try to do something in it I get BIG WARNING SIGNS telling me I'm getting ready to mess up big time(while ubuntu is better, I am still not proficient in handling my files to where I'm comfortable at it).Is this the way to go or is there a better, less "alarming" way to accomplish it?
