Error with GRUB when a fresh installation of 8.4.1 is done

Asked by FajardXorg

Can any one guide me to partition a disk as is mentioned here https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub/+question/25266. in a step to step if is not too much to ask.

I have been using the feature from live cd and never had this Grub problem. My friend's machine is Evo N800v Laptop. I tried wubi , but windows does not work.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, are you using live or alternate cd?

Yes, i am using a live CD. I cleaned windows and installed Ubuntu 8.4.1 but when booting, the screen show Grub error 18 loading. I would like to know if there is another way to do what was done in this similar problem.https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub/+question/25266

I appreciate for your kindness

Can you find an alternate version? I normally use that and so i could help you better. However I give you some advices.

-Install again Ubuntu
-You have to work ar the partitioning step. Choose manual way.
-The hard work is to specify the mount points for the partitions. A good idea it is to choose automatic partitioning and copy that set. Then you can come back to manual way.
-Delete all the previously created partitions. Keep attention to save the windows one if you want. You can recognize that by ntfs file system.
-You have to create three partitions:
First: boot partition. It is that adviced in the link you give. As told there choose 300 MB and the boot flag.
Second: swap partition. As told in the installation step, you must choose at least 650 MB and the swap file system.
Third: main partition. You can use the remaining space.

For the second and third partitions you can copy from the automatic way.

I know this is fairly confused, but my memory can't do better.
