Dual boot (Grub) won't accept keystrokes

Asked by Stirlo

Hello,
I have started my journey away from Windows XP/64 and have installed Ubuntu as a dual boot configuration.

After applying all the updates and restarting, the first display of the Grub menu allows me to select the OS to boot. If I select Ubuntu and then restart the arrow keys are no longer active and I am locked into loading Ubuntu every time.
I have now changed menu.lst so that Windows is the default.

Any ideas as to why Grub no longer accepts keystrokes.

Hello,
This thread is similar to the problem reported by Ron in #47992 (I missed that when I logged my question).

My keyboard is a Microsoft wireless unit that allows me to connect via the PS/2 port - I was using usb connections. Changed to PS/2 port - problem solved.
