Grub error 15

Asked by saint

I have installed ubuntu 8.04 on my second hasrd disk using the alternate install cd after failed GUI installation. Unfortunately grub fails error 15 on startup and I'm stuck. I suspect it is something to do with the large disk. My bios reports the disk size as 137 GB but ubuntu sees it as 248GB. I read all the posts, created a grub boot floppy with no joy.
I'm now stuck, please help.

Try booting on a livecd, and using the partition editor (hit alt+F2, type 'gparted' without the quotes). And try deleting every partition from your second hard disks and hit the apply button. Then try installing using Entire Disk option, make sure you select the second hard disk.

Hope this helps you.

I think it was a problem with the BIOS but only BIOS upgrades can be done via windows as far as I can see. Now for the laptop...
