"GRUB Error 22" ?!!

Asked by lukester

Hi,

I previously had Microsoft Windows XP installed on my laptop. I tried the Ubuntu CD software. I liked it, so I had it installed. After that, nothing went right. The dual boot thing screwed up, and it completely erased Windows. I put the Windows CD in the drive, and when I double-clicked the CD icon on the desktop it opened it instead of ran it. When I tried clicking on various files in the CD, none of them worked. I then tried to edit the partition. I messed that up too, and so now every time I restart my computer, it shows up with "GRUB Error 22". I still think Ubuntu is great, but I just want Windows back. Help!!

By the way, if I have the Ubuntu CD in the drive when I restart the computer, it will bring me back to the Ubuntu original setup menu. If anyone knows a way to uninstall from there, that would be great too!

I found a System Recovery CD floating around in my house and re-formatted the hard drive. I'm good to go. Thanks!
