On boot with a partion when Grub starts I get an Error 21

Asked by Don Brown

I see from the Other replies that this signifies that the disk does not exist. Could this mean I entered the name of the disk incorrectly? How do I get in to find the correct name? and how do I correct it?

Can you boot into Ubuntu? If so provide the outputs of:-

cat /boot/grub/menu.lst

cat /boot/grub/device.map

sudo fdisk -l

Download the Super GRUB CD from here:-
http://supergrub.forjamari.linex.org/?section=download

burn it on to a CD and boot it. Then try and restore GRUB to the MBR and try again.

Download this:-
http://forjamari.linex.org/frs/download.php/832/supergrubdisk_0.9677.iso

Then once you have downloaded it burn it onto a disc(burn it as an ISO or Image file) at a rather slow speed(4x or less recommended) and then boot the PC using it.
