Grub Error 21 I386 WHAT

I installed the latest Ubuntu and onto my 120 g external HD. Did it all through the cd I copied from the ISO, and with a dell laptop with xp. Now my XP will not run.I get the "Grub error 21". I cant even get the windows cd to run I get" I386 error file is invalid ". Im new to linux can someone please help I need XP back. Jamie

basically what you want,to go back to xp
set bios to boot from cd(press f8 or del on start and change default device to boot)
insert windows xp cd and goto command and type fixmbr>yes or using fdisk or google to fix grub error 21

or just restall grub from ubuntu cd or someother way if linux is still not corrupt
