Working of GRUB... (FAQ)

Asked by Bruce Barbour

I have Windows XP on first hard drive, Fedora 7 on second. Grub MBR is in Windows so I can select which system to boot from its drive. How do I install Ubuntu on second hard drive containing Fedora 7 so that I can choose it to boot - does install of Ubuntu also change MBR to offer which of three systems to boot?

Yes, you can certainly do that... The old GRUB gets overwritten and the ubuntu boot option also comes up with the two other os's i.e FC7 and winxp... About installing ubuntu, you can create a partition seperate for ununtu and FC7.. please paste output of sudo fdisk-l...
