Latest version not uploaded to Debian sid/unstable, and Ubuntu?

Why isn't the latest version of Grsync uploaded to Debian sid/unstable, and consequently Ubuntu? http://www.opbyte.it/grsync/changes.html

The simple answer is probably that

Version 1.2.1 was marked as unstable

and

Version 1.2.2 was only released on 22 Oct this year so was not ready for the feature freeze for Quantal.

You can file a bug report if you want too

ubuntu-bug grsync

will start the process. Include details of where the updated source is and what feature improvements and bug fixes it has over the current version

This may help ensure that it makes it into 13.04 but it may do that anyway.

Ubuntu is not a rolling release so its unlikely to be updated in existing versions of Ubuntu unless it fixes a security issue or bugs that are considered serious enough.

As for Debian. That's a different OS and even though Ubuntu is based on Debian what they do is up to them. Ask in a Debian forum. http://forums.debian.net/

You may be able to find a ppa or deb file with the latest version and install from there.
