would like to upgrade groff without upgrading to karmic

Asked by chiquita

I would like to use a newer version of Groff :-)
I don't want to upgrade to Karmic yet. I take it that if I did, Groff would be upgraded to 1.20.1?

The version of Ubuntu is Jaunty. The computer is amd64.
From `apt-cache show groff', it's Version: 1.18.1.1-22build1

I tried compiling Groff 1.20.1 from source ( ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/groff/ ).
The compilation seems to have gone fine. It seems to build...
The `compiled-from-source' Groff seems to work, but I have only tried simple stuff!

Should I stick to what has been built from source, or should I try something else?
