Where's Grip?

Asked by marcw

Why is the Grip package no longer in the 9.10 repositories? It's been in all previous releases and as far as I know it's actively maintained. I had to go to the Grip web site (http://nostatic.org/grip/), download the source, and build my own in order to use it after building a Karmic machine.

This is not a bug, but rather a question about why a package is not included in the current release of ubuntu.

grip may be yet unstable for use on Karmic. This is mainly the reason of such things. Wait a while, it might be added to the repositories someday.

This isn't an answer. Responder likely didn't even read original message. This is not a new package. I've been using Grip from the repositories for a long time. Someone made a conscious decision to remove Grip from Karmic.

Actually this didn't really answer the question as to why it was removed from the repositories but as long as there's a way to retrieve the binaries it's close enough.
