On an HP G60-N125 laptop computer turning off the touch pad does not disable the touch pad.

Asked by Joseph Campbell

I have been having this on going problem were under Ubuntu 12-04 and earlier version the mouse/touch pad button does not actually disable that function. WHile typing emails and such I often swipe my thumb on the pad not realizing until later when my type is all over the screen.

Great operating system one minor flaw.

I only install Ubuntu or Mint on systems coming through my door these days.
