Why is ubuntu distributing version 1.1, whereas version 1.3.1 has been released for almost 1 year?

Asked by Cyril Soler

GPGME implements new features that would be quite interesting for the development of applications that use PGP.

However, Ubuntu is proposing package gpgme-v1.1, although GPGME has version 1.3.1 since almost one year.

Would it be possible to upgrade to a more recent version?

Thanks a lot!

I'm showing V1.2.0 even though the name on the package ends in 11. It's also in the Canonical repositories and they may not consider 1.3 a "stable" release.

Then again, the launchpad page for the soureces https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gpgme/0.3.16-2 doesn't seem to have been updated since Dapper. You could try emailing the package maintainer listed on that page and see if you get a response. Perhaps the wheels have fallen off?

Chris.
