cleaning second hard drive

Asked by geoffcc

I'm a complete newbie.

Just put a second hard drive into my desktop PC which is running under Ubuntu.
The drive is a Western Digital and it comes up as removable media. Mounts OK but it has an aborted SE Linux install on it and I dont have info re user names/permissions etc. File deletes denied.

How do I clean it up for use as second drive in my Ubuntu setup?? Is there a format command in Ubuntu Linux?

Brilliant, nicely solved :)))
I personally would rather someone yelled first and then started hunting around for the answer rather than struggling too much. There's always bound to be other people with the same problem and posting your answer back into here and marking it solved means that it's available for people searching through the "Solved Answers" database. So it all helps :))

Thanks and regards from
Tom :))

PS Nice one :))
