LVM question ??

Asked by sajanagr

hi

I was curious to know if it is somehow possible to create an LV's snapshot in another VG.

For eg. I have 2 VGs - VG1 and VG2 and create LV1 on VG1 and then create a snapshot of LV1 such that it is stored in VG2.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Is this about Logical Volume Management?

There were an excellent couple of articles in DistroWatch that might be worth reading.

I hope this helps!

Oh dear. I haven't a clue about this! I was really hoping the articles would help! I'm not even sure if anyone in here knows because it's the first time i have seen this question. I recommend posting the same question in a few other forums and see who can give the best answer fastest

It might also be worth sending an email to the author to see if he can post you a good link to a good guide. I wouldn't normally suggest this but it seems like something few people know about.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Thanks tom for your support, really appreciate it..

your article was good for taking snapshots in the same VG's LV .. but taking a snapshot stored in another VG is what I am looking for.
