ubuntu 8.10 won't install

Asked by daniel hoggan

basically I am trying to install 8.10 right now, but every time it checks my partitions for some reason it stops, the computer seems to be working, and the spinner is showing busy, i.e the computer isn't frozen, but it just takes forever after it gets to partitioning the disk

Since I'm in a bit of a hurry. I can recommend a quick fix. Proper way to fix this would be troubleshoot what is happening, though.

A quick hack would be to use the GParted Live CD, delete all partions and try and install Ubuntu again.
