How to resize ubuntu partition to increase Windows XP memory size?

Asked by Arindam

I have made the same mistake as mentioned in Question #21362. I installed Ubuntu and by mistake 55 GB to Ubuntu (Out of 65 GB of my total disk Space) in stead of allotting 10 GB.

Anyways, reading through the answers given for Question #21362 I hope I will also be able to fix this problem and reduce the memory allotted to Ubuntu.

My Question is, what happens to the section of memory that is taken out of Ubuntu? Does Windows recognizes that automatically or do I have to do some thing special to get that memory back in Windows?

Thanks in advance!!!

You will need to boot the desktop CD to and use gparted to resize both of the partitions. You can start gparted from the menu System-> Administration-> Partition Editor.

It is a good idea to review the documentation of gparted before you begin.

You may need to use this technique to accomplish your goal.
