need to resize partition to install xp

I need to rezize my linux partitions in order to install xp. Can someone help me out wiht an explanation on how to go about that?

Note that you need to install Gparted if you don't already have it.

sudo apt-get install gparted

He wants to resize the linux partition, not windows partition. I believe.

Pay attention when you install Windows, because it won't detect Linux ext2/ext3 partitions. Double check you choose the right partition before formatting from the installer. Also, installing Windows will probably end up in disrupting your grub installation on MBR, making impossible to switch on Linux at startup. If you have got a floppy drive, i suggest you make a grub boot floppy before installing Windows, so that you'll have a fallback in case of problems (you can follow these instructions: http://linux-sxs.org/administration/grubflop.html). Then you coult fix the multi-boot thing from Ubuntu by reinstalling grub.
