add disk partition for SWAP (to do with ram)

i installed Ubuntu i clicked create new partition table and just made 1 it said there was no room for SWAP how do i make one without reinstall?

Boot on Ubuntu CD.
Choose "Try" instead of "Install".
Then System->Administration->Gparted Partition Editor (or Disk Utilities).
Shrink ext4 partition to make free space, and then do a swap partition (at least 2GB or RAM size).
