i want to add more of my HDD disk space to ubuntu 500MB is not enough, u was thinking 25G. i just do not know how to allocate more space. please help asap

You can resize partitions in live CD if that's what you mean?

this boots and runs directly over windows from my external hard drive. i do not have a live cd.

Make it FAT file by formatting it

Are you using Wubi, i.e. you installed Ubuntu inside Windows disk partition ?

Thanks Rohith Kumar, that solved my question.
